Coffee, Tea and Water
First things first. Suggestion is to limit or eliminate diet sodas. They are not natural. As one baby boomer who has had a few issues such as eye problems and pounding heart episodes due to menopause it is best not to drink sodium and chemicals. As we did back in the 70s, keep it clean and natural. Coffee, Tea and Water. Tea and Water keeps you hydrated. Coffee, the natural power drink, revs you and keeps you alert.
Drink Healthy and Natural!
Drinking water curbs your appetite, promotes gorgeous skin and revs up your sluggish metabolism. Of course Water is King!
Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry on proper and normal functions. Having mild dehydration, as little as a 1 percent to 2 percent loss of your body weight - can sap your energy and make you tired. Dehydration poses a particular health risk for Boomers and Seniors. Such can be excessive thirst, feeling off , fatigue , headache , dry mouth, little or no urination, exhaustion, muscle weakness and dizziness amongst others. So how much water do you need? Every day you lose water through bodily functions. For your body to function properly, you need to replace this water by consuming beverages and foods that contain water. Best bet for us Boomers, is to drink our body weight per ounce. If you weight 160 lbs then have 160 oz of water. That translates to 10 glasses of water ( 16 oz a day). Water doesn’t have to be boring however, it can be a delightful beverage if you add food grade oil into it. Peppermint, Orange, Lemon, Cherry oil adds flavor and 5 calories a day which makes very low calorie beverage. Specialty food stores have flavored zero calories waters which do not have any chemicals. Squeeze lemon, lime or slice a cucumber to create your own spa water. It's Mother Nature's beverage at its best.
Ahh.. the Wonders of Green Tea.
In General, Tea is the most commonly consumed beverage in the world after water. Drink it black, green, white or red (oolong) tea, each type of tea, contains polyphenols which give tea its antioxidant properties.

Such a healthy beverage tea offers so many health benefits and preventing health issues. Brewing it just 5 minutes brings out beneficial polyphenols. Some teas can help prevent heart disease, relieve menstrual cramping, ease hot flashes, lowers cholesterol, with many more benefits. Tea protects your beautiful skin and strengthens bones and teeth. With few calories, zero fat, no salt, and rich in flavonoids.
Drink it strong and 3 cups a day (or more) will make the health benefits greater.
Savor your tea plain or with a squeeze of lemon or lime. In its steep brew state is most beneficial. Be your own tea master, and design our own teas with zero calories. Enjoy as many cups a day but do avoid black teas after 6 PM since it does have caffeine. I have a cup of green tea every night to relax and help me relax. After dinner I look forward to a cup of green tea and a snack whether it’s a baked apple, great for a fall or winter snack, or a grilled piece of fruit such as pineapple or peach during the summer months.
Cuppa Joe me
I am a coffee snob. Most of us are. I love everything about coffee. The robust rich taste, the smell, the first thing in the AM delight. Drip, Brewed, percolated, french pressed, pods anything! It has a high caffeine base so do drink 1-2 cups and do make sure it is before 5 PM so you can sleep well. Try not to make it a cup of coffee fat by adding sugar and cream to it. Tasting the richness, a spot of milk, and a dash of cinammon, cocoa or even vanilla will perk it up and not add to the waistline.
